It's no surprise that Edward Cullen (aka Robert Pattinson) has stolen the hearts of thousands of Twilight fanatics — vampires have fascinated audiences for generations.

While in the early days of cinema vamps were portrayed as diabolical supervillians, in recent times they've become heroes as well, either brooding super hunks or deadly vixens most would love to sink their teeth into.

Whether good or evil, vampires usually have a few things in common: they're often smooth, suave and sophisticated, with superhuman strength, heightened senses and devilishly good looks to boot. Oh, and don't forget the lavish castle they are somehow always able to afford.
