couldve been better
meh it was okay. i was expecting better, but thats how all HP movies turn out for me. lots of things were scrapped out and new stuff put in. and the Ginny chick, shes soo weird. she atcs like the biggest desperato in the movie. but overall there were some pretty good scenes like when harry gets drunk and acts high :P

I LOVED it! Thought is was brilliantly done and was completely spellbound for the whole movie. I also think the actress that plays Hermoine is fabulous in her role. The only thing I found dissapointing was the very end. Harry could have been more heroic and the great Prof. D should have lived.

i love the harry potter series and when i saw the movie i thought it was great but everything happened so fast like when it ended i was like it that all and also there wasn't enough action i mean i loved the cave scene that was really cool and err i love the actors and the jokes but not enough action u know but i think the next ones will be great
i liked the 4th one the best and not just because rpatz was in it because to me it had the most action u know voldermort returned Cedric died was the part i didnt like but yeah there was the tri wizard tournament and harry, ron and hermione hit puberty and everthing changes u know i love the fourth one

Magic going nowhere

The movie made no sence what-so-ever. Did Ginny ever break up with Dean anyway or was she cheating? They never told us. And it was filled up with more kissing than needed. I know in the book Ron and Lavender were snogging for months but they didn't need anything else. Real let down.

Spoiler !!!!!!! i was thoroughly disapointed with this movie they have cut out practically half the book including memories, bill and fleurs engagment, and fight. some were important to the seventh film with out bill and fleur how will harry, ron and hermione find out that voldemort has taken over the ministry, where will dobbys grave be and where will they go instead of shell cottage? not to mention it hardly made sense, without reading the book. my mother for example was con fused like the scene at the burrow suddenly lupin and tonks were together, they didnt even put in the part where tonks patronus changes. she also thought fenrir greyback was a dud they made him look like such a good character like you could tell he was evil and all he does is just walk around. bellatrix lestrang looked like a complete nutter not in the character way. the way she acted at the part where dumbledore died would have been really good if there was a fight to back it up. where was dumbledores tomb i ask how does voldemort steal the elder wand. what happened to sirius will in the 7th one does he just decide to go there. nothing about scrimagour. this movie really needs to step up a bit to become one of the best potter movies before the 5th movie was the worst but this one is the worst by far by the amount they cut out. harry and ginnys kiss was practically nothing they barely get together which explains why harry does not break up with her for his hunt for horcruxes. although i will give the film credit for the inferi scene which was really good except that all of them except the one that held harry reminded me of golem from lord of the rings. but the fire was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo ausome.

Didnt meet expectations

For a movie that had as much hype and excitement beforehand, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was a total let down, especially for all of us who are massive fans of J.k Rowlings Harry Potter series. I, myself was awfully excited to see my favourite book from the series put on the big screen but after seeing it all I can say is that the book, was written as a kind of 'calm before the storm', being the book that excites us more than anything for the end or the 7th book. Any one who has read the book, even started the book would agree that it is awfully dramatic and serious and shows the hold that Volderment is now securing. It is quite dark but as many would agree the movie was far from the book and it being lighthearted, ruined the scene that shoud have been set, so as to create full effect for the final installment. I am disappointed and really can not see how the seventh movie can do the book any jusice. Please just read the book and see what me and many others are 'preaching'

FABULOUS!!!

The movie was so fantastic... you have to understand that they can't put the whole book in or it would go for 6 hours...they did a great job making this a film for people who haven't read the books. I love HP...cant wait for the next two!!!!!!!

UNEVENTFUL

I had looked forward to seeing the movie for a long time...and I'm sad to say i was disappointed by an uneventful movie that should have been so much more. I left the movie wondering what exactly had happened in the two and a half hours i was watching the screen - all i could recall was plenty of cheesy adolescent girl/boy germ bits and alot of disjointed, seemingly unconnected dark bits. This book was my favourite of the series and to see it reduced to such a plot-less bunch of special effects was very deflating. Plot/storyline was abandoned in the chase for cheap laughs and teenage angst. It has taken away my enthusiasm for the next installment which i can only pray reverts to previous Harry Potter form.

possibly one of the greatest movies ever

Watch it yesterday about to watch it today. The movie was really funny. Really suspensful. No longer a kids movie. It really got into the struggles of every character. Draco malfoys struggle was amazingly acted. Good movie for a good series. Almost perfect. All those people that said it was a let down would probably be people who liked watchmen, (the biggest let down in movie history).

meets expectations

this was probably one of the best harry potter movies to be released so far. the movies are usually a major disappointment to fans of the books but i think half-blood prince did a pretty good job at meeting expectations. naturally, the book is better and they did leave stuff out, but that's the way it has to be and all things considered i think they've done quite well!

mixed feelings

As a parent and never seeing any previous movies or read any of the books for that matter i found it quite entertaining. My children however who have followed the story by reading the books and seeing the previous movies were a little disappointed and said that important parts had been left out. All up though we all had an enjoyable night out..

Harry Potter a let down

I thought this Harry Potter film and the one before was disappointing. They both seemed to lack a decent story line, although they threw in a couple of new baddies and revealed another couple of baddies too. This latest one was very long too. Great special effects as per usual though. Hope the next one is much better and has a more gripping storyline.

Dissappointing

I was actually really disappointed. there was not really any moment in the film that i was in suspense for. I know that both the characters and the story line have taken a different direction, however there was none of the Harry Potter velocity that we have seen in all of the other films.
I guess at the end of the day the book is always better than the film!!

Overall Good Film, yet lacking in some aspects

Overall it was a good film, with better acting and plot than the previous films in the series. However it lacked a strong fantasy aspect and action scenes which made the previous titles famous. It was also dissapointing how some parts were cut out completely, especially the end battle scene which could have made the film even more magnificent.

Hate to say it ...Let down!

To begin with I had high hopes for this film, the sixth book is my favourite. Watching all of the films so far I have gotten over the fact that they won't put everything in for obvious reasons, but the lack of emphasis on the horcruxes was I though damaging to the story line. My biggest dissappointment was that I felt as though I had seen the entire film already, all of the main scenes had been shown in the trailers. It also bothered me that the film was so dark, literally, I only thought the monochrome worked well with Malfoy and Harry's fight.
Dan and Rupert are great! comics but less Hormones and more politics and the important parts of the plot please. I wish MIke Newell was directing the final films.

I thought there was a great mix of humor, emotion, thrill and screenplay. It was disappointing that sections were cut out, but at the end of the day they could not make two films on one book. If you want to experience every emotion, I think this is the film!

i really loved this film. but they need to hurry up and finish all of the films because they are loosing people every day becayuse they are taking way to long to get to the point of the story. but apart from the length of the 7 films i really loved this movie it was the best out of all of them. i think that herminie...emma watson should get better shoes because velcrow is a little old.

hmm

The movie itself was fantastic, emma watson, daniel radcliffe and rupert grint are awesome, the friendship mirrors that of a real life friendship - their laughs, hugs, nudges etc. having read the book prior to seeing the movie i wasn't impressed with some of the changes that were made - most significantly the fact that in the book dumbledore puts a spell on harry in order to stop him defending him from the death eaters (and when the spell is broken this is how harry knows for sure dumbledore is dead), yet in the movie he tells harry to stand still and do nothing! and he does! he waits there patiently like a good little boy

A selection of book parts
Again they have taken parts of a harry Potter book, tacked it together with a few original parts to differentiate it a bit from the book and call it a movie. The movie a again has key elements missing and the actors seemed to not want to be there. Certain scenes were changed even though they had the correct actors for the scene.I must admit that it is an improvement from Order of the Phoenix which had some of the worst editing I have ever seen. Again another series of Harry segments tacked together to make what i would not call. There must be alot of people out there who are very easily satisfied. You've read the best, now you should expect to watch the best of a fair representation of it.

Ok so im a serious harry potter film as is my 7 year old son and i was excited to go see this film but yet when it finished i felt there was no flow like all the rest did , it jumped all over the place and was a big let down for me. The movie missed so many things from the book and did things that didnt happen until the next book. My extended family went to see it and all 12 of us said what a waste of al the harry potters this one doesnt rate in my books!

I love Harry... but was a little disappointed...

I'm as bigger fan as any for Harry Potter, and it pains me to admit that I was a little disappointed with the sixth film. I felt that too many important scenes were excluded (eg. fight scene in the castle, funeral, other memories of Dumbledore in the pensieve), and bizarre, irrelevant scenes were added. I wish that they had been more true to the books.

Books are brilliant, but this movie was a let down

I agree that reading the book before hand is a really bad idea, but even without that I don't think that the movies flow or really make sense!!! The movies leave out key pieces of information and the characters are so shallow. I think that the movies have been rushed and don't make sense if you haven't read the books, and are frustratingly wrong if you have.

Harry Potter

I was disappointed. I felt the scenes did not flow well and that they missed very important parts from the book. I know I shouldnt expect evey part of the book to be in the movie as it would mean the movie was at least six hours long, but two installments of this would have been so much better than what it was. What about the duel in the castle after Dumbledore is killed, i thought that part was so important, that is where George is injured and looses his ear (a lot happens in that part). Anyway, could have been better.

Had me laughing a few times - guess even wizards & witches go through puberty :)
Action scenes were'nt as good though - I was hoping for a more voilent and gruesome film - I would love for them to do a adult's version! Pity that's probably not going to happen.
But I would watch it again - its a decent movie.

I absolutely love this movie! I've seen it three times. I was never really a HP fan but this movie was brilliant. So good that it has made me read Deathly Hallows. Recommended to everyone even Twilight fans. They even showed the NewMoon trailer! Well yeah overall great movie, everyone will enjoy.

It wasn't anywhere near good enough for me. They skipped out far too many vitally important parts of the story and spent way too much time on the stupid little love stories. I think as a film it is great, but as an adaption from the book it is positively tragic. I hope for the next one they acually read the book so that the story comes aross the way it should. I was extremely disappointed in this film.

Relieved

I was so disappointed in David Yates handling of the last instalment, (particularly in the Dumbeldore, Voldemort fight scene where the fountain didn't come to life to help) that I was feeling a little apprehensive sitting down to watch the Half Blood Prince. What a relief! Yes sure, there were missing elements as there always is. I have learned to accept that this is a necessary evil when a book with so much detail becomes a movie, but this felt right. This instalment gives me some hope that David Yates won't screw up the ending. It looked right and it built on that feeling that nothing is ever going to be the same again. I liked the comedic edge of teenage angst juxtaposed against the fear of what is to come. Lets hope David Yates continues to show this much improvement with thenext film.

excellent but could have been better

although it was a thoroughly enjoyable movie - i think they left out parts that the entire audience was waiting for. ie. when the order of the phoenix comes at the end to fight the deatheaters. i was looking forward to a spectacular fight scene with amazing special effects but i was sadly left disappointed. after my amazing fight scene i was expecting a really sad funeral scene bringing in all the characters from previous movie (madam maxime etc) and not to have a dry eye in the house - again i was left disappointed by the underdone ending. despite missing these two crucial parts of the film it was still a great movie, but had yates added another half hour to the film or taken out some of the less important sections - this could have eclipsed the previous movies by far, instead it leaves the audience confused and slightly dissappointed. despite these criticisms, for a 2.5 hour movie - the time flew! once again, as in all the previous movies, the acting was absolutely brilliant. the young tom riddles, slughorn, lavender brown and all the usuals were excellent in their performances. the teenage angst was portrayed exceptionally and pushed to the limit but not overdone which so many movies tend to do. my criticisms are minor faults that i feel would have made the fiim better but overall i still loved the film. i would see this movie again, buy it on dvd and recommend it to my friends (but they have already seen and loved it also). after seeing this movie i am left hanging out for the last installments and can not wait to see how they top this spectacular film. excellent job!

To be honest this flick wasn't half bad. I haven't read the books personally but think that the film was jam packed with action (at the start) and towards the end. They were all very funny, cutesy and entertaining as they hit puberty. But the end is neigh and I am hanging out for the final film! =)

I came into the movie thinking it would be another harry potter movie, but I was wrong it was brilliant. The movie this time has really amazed me with laughter and sadness. It is harry's six year at Hogwarts and Harry has to face more challenges against the dark lord and this time he is in for a treat or should I say a big Shock. If you think that Harry Potter is bad and you don't like it, this movie will change your mind. The only criticism I can give is that the director could have cut some things out to make it a bit shorter because some people were getting restless by the end. All together it is an amazing movie and i defiantly recommend to see it.

Should have been two movies - trying to too hard to be another Twilight

I have read these amazing books from go to woe so many times and never tire of them. JKR's amazing vision and planning to create such a fabulous alternate dimension is awe inspiring. I have watched each of the movies numerous times and have loved them all. But it is with great sadness that I must say that this particular installment has completely missed the mark. It had that 'Twilight' feel about it - trying so hard to show teenage sexual tension but not actually allowing the underlying story to be told. Too many gaps - I started to feel very fidgety during most of the movie ( which normally happens during a B grade movie). My seven year old son started to look all around the cinema and move around in his chair when he is normally fixated on the large screen when watching the other HP movies. So much was missed from the book and I don't think that the bits that were included were threaded together particularly well. This particular book should have been made into two movies. There just seemed to be a lot of padding out. I'm prepared to see it once more and then watch it on DVD, but having seen it straight after reading the book I can only say that I am so, so disappointed. Please, please someone tell David Yates not to ruin the last movie (which I believe will be in 2 installments). JKR's books are much to good for B Grade interpretations!

An Okay Watch

I thought the books were brilliant, and reread the Half Blood Prince in the past few days to get refreshed for the film. I don't recommend doing this - it allows you to see too many faults in the film, including scenes added to the movie that do not appear in the book at all. Some parts of the movie were done brilliantly, although altogether, the sixth Harry Potter film installment was a let down. Vital scenes were left out in favour of scenes that were not essential to the plot, which would have caused some confusion among those who had read the book, and even more among those who don't. However, I am still looking forward to the next films, hope is not lost!
