David Rice always believed he was perfectly ordinary - until he accidentally discovered he possessed a "talent" that is nothing less than extraordinary. David is a "Jumper" who can teleport himself to the streets of New York and Tokyo, the ruins of Rome, and the summit of Mt. Everest. He can see 20 sunsets in one night, whisk his girlfriend around the world in the blink of an eye, and grab millions of dollars in a matter of minutes. But David's global odyssey takes a deadly turn when he finds himself relentlessly pursued by a secret organisation sworn to kill Jumpers.

    What we say
    Pubescent effects-fest

    3 star rating
One of the most valued assets in film production is a producer's ability to know her or his target audience. Yet, while the creators of the new Doug Liman action movie "Jumper" should be applauded for their ability to sell adolescent fantasies wrapped in sexy special effects, the film is ultimately brought down by this narrow pandering to style over substance.

David Rice (Hayden Christensen) is a "jumper" — one of a select few born with the remarkable ability to teleport at once to any location his mind can picture.

It's a power that offers him complete freedom; that is, until the Paladins — a fanatically religious group led by the ruthless Roland (Samuel L Jackson) — catch up with him. Now, teaming up with fellow jumper Griffin (Jamie Bell), David must utilise all his talent and strength if he is to escape Roland and rescue his childhood crush Millie (Rachel Bilson).

While offering much out-of-the-box promise, the film's incredible special effects and enviable locations don't make up for the simplistic plot. Any chance for the film to explore a number of contemporary issues is never truly realised as potentially emotional scenes fail to engage the drama of the situation.

The actors' performances are uniformly lacklustre; Samuel L Jackson is predictably suburban, while the younger actors, despite their extensive experience (or perhaps because of it), fail to portray more than the empty shells handed to them. Yet the film's biggest disappointment comes from an unshakable feeling it is little more than a rushed pilot for a hopefully better-developed drama. Tune in next week for the deep characterisation and in-depth back stories.

While clearly a film that will captivate its target teen audience, "Jumper" lacks the sufficient sophistication to develop into anything more than a pubescent effects-fest.

unbeleivably the one of the best movies

This movie was brilliant and entertaining. The movie is mad because the jumpers could actually teleport away but they made weapons to stop them from jumping, unlike spiderman could never be caught unless he phsycally faced his enemy. And i think this movie could not have been better

    Dont waste your money
After seeing the trailer for this film it looked Great but in fact it was a terrible movie. Most of the 'Action' scenes were just blurs from where they teleported. Also he was just born with this 'power' no where did it explain how he got this power he could just do it... made no sense. at least in spiderman he got bitten by a spider etc.

    Not worth watching.

    Awesome
This movie was awesome, the effects were radical and, although some people may not agree, the storyline wasn't bad either. If you haven't seen this movie yet i highly recommend seeing it in the movies before it comes on DVD.

ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES I'VE SEEN IN A WHILE
    5 star rating
This movie i loved, so much happening, you need to go more than once just to understand what's going on, Hayden, Rachel, Jamie and Samuel are are brillant and brought the film to life.

The humour made light of situations and i've been in cinemas where they've laughed along as i have. Don't bash this film before you have a chance to fully see it more, it;'s far better than some other films right now and before it.

    Jumper was entertaining
    3.5 star rating
Come on people, you need expectations. I think the movie was entertaining, mildly engaging and reasonable acting. Its a SCI-FI, not an award winning drama. I enjoyed it and better than the other dribble at present. I am Legend? Come on, how unoriginal was that, even for a remake it was still boring and the original was many times better.

    Could be better
    1.5 star rating
I enjoyed the fact that the plot was original and not a rehashed version of something already filmed with twenty odd versions, the special effects were very good, (but gave me a headache trying to follow them) the performances from the actors were not too bad but because it had a bad script with a lackluster story, I doubt even the greatest performance by any award winning actor could do anything with it. I really think it could have been better.

I really enjoyed this film- fantastic concept for a story, awesome visual effects, full of action and a great cast. It did end very abrubtly- almost as tough they ran out of money to complete filming. A sequel would be good! would recomend to go see if love some action!

    JUMPER IS JUNK!
    0.5 star rating
If only this movie could have been directed by James Cameron, Steven Spielberg or Ridley Scott and could have had a worthy script writer!

The premise of the movie is great and should have been a winner!. Instead it is a stinker!

The acting was straight out of the cardboard school of theatre!

Maybe if it was made in England or here in Australia, it would have been better? I had such high hopes for this movie, but I was left looking down into the gutter!

I suggest you spend your money elsewhere!

    making it short and sweet
    2 star rating
So I have come to realize after watching this film that they have jumped the fact of writing a script or telling a actual story. If i did not have two good looking people to look at during the film (Jamie Bell,Hayden Christensen) I probably would have fallen asleep.

Sometimes action is not everything. the trailer was the best part of the movie. I became very annoyed of all the jumping and wish I could have jumped from my seat to my bed. and just a perfect example of how life is, the movie ends with a happy ending. just perfect..

When you think how much it must have cost to make this, it seems a shame they didn't spend an extra dollar or two and employ a writer....

    Great effects but poor plot
    3 star rating
I thought the original idea for the movie was really good, and the special effects were excellent, but the movie wasn't as good as it could've been. The plot was quite weak and though there were some potential interesting bits, it sorta gave way to more action and effects. Entertaining, but not one to stick in your mind afterwards.

    So Much Potential
    1.5 star rating
OMG, this movie had so much potential with a great transporter idea and yet turned out so lame. No where near enough done with it.

The acting was very average & unrealistic, the plot was good but badly executed and the ending made you want to get a refund.

A definite movie for the easily pleased viewers who don't expect too much out of a movie. a real shame...........

    Waste of money
    0.5 star rating
Before I even went to see this film I was unsure about it. I read the book like 10 years ago and liked it and just from the pre-release hype and how short the film is... it set me wondering if I should even bother.

Well I wish I had spent my time and money on a better film.

I did not like it at all. I expected alot more and the story line was thin. For such an interesting concept so much more could have been done in the one film.

The way they have 'tried to do this' you can be sure there will be a part 2. And there in is the reason why this film is crap. If your looking to make money from a second ensure the first is good. On this Jumper fails.

I personally will wait till the part 2 and 1 are offered on DVD as a pack before I waste more money.

    Inane Garbage
OK, putting aside that I may not be the target audience for this film, this was an appalling effort on behalf of renowned direct, Doug Liman; I can cope with a ludicrous premise if everything else fell into place but this movie has no plot, wooden characters, pathetic special effects and left me wondering what was it all about. Garbage of the highest order. Surely even young people must feel ripped off by this one!!!!
