Fang-tastic threequel brings flailing franchise back from the dead
Relax, nervous Twi-hards: it's good. Very good.
After director Chris Weitz put a stake through the heart of the Twilight franchise with the embarrassingly awkward New Moon, new helmer David Slade (30 Days of Night, Hard Candy) manages against the odds to breathe new life into the franchise.
Eclipse is better on just about every level than its predecessor: the action is more suspenseful and properly executed; the special effects are improved; the story flows comfortably; and most importantly, the performances are stronger.
Robert Pattinson was so god-awful in New Moon that it's a miracle he delivers the goods in the third instalment as Edward Cullen. Gone is his constipated expression — instead he has fun with the role, see-sawing between serious Casanova and playful James Dean. Kristen Stewart is once again impressive as Bella, the human girl in a relationship with a 100-year-old vampire, while Taylor Lautner gives both a solid performance and the one thing the hordes of screaming Twi-hards want: bulging biceps.
Eclipse opens with the chilling murder of Riley (Australian actor Xavier Samuel) in Seattle. It seems a serial killer is on the loose, picking off innocents and turning them into blood-suckers. As an army of the undead builds, their mission becomes clear: they want Bella, forcing rival vampire and werewolf clans to unite in a deadly battle for supremacy.
It's all very ridiculous — as is Bella's ongoing love triangle with Edward and Jacob, played to excess — but Slade clearly knows his limitations. There are more than a few tongue-in-cheek moments to lighten the affair (at one point, Edward sights a shirtless Jacob and muses: "Doesn't he own a shirt?").
Eclipse toys with the theme of immortality quite effectively. Bella discovers it's not an entirely romantic notion — even the vampires themselves warn her against it. In the film's best scene, Rosalie (Nikki Reed) recalls the shocking, saddening events that led to her transformation.
The movie has pacing issues: early scenes that re-establish the central love triangle are too long and repetitive. But the second hour rockets along, building to an action-packed climax that allows Slade to showcase his deft hand at horror.
The Twilight sequels haven't been able to capture Catherine Hardwicke's beautiful, indie-feel original. But Eclipse is a step in the right direction for this evolving franchise, and it will be interesting to see what the next director, Bill Condon (Dreamgirls), brings to the table in Breaking Dawn.

Bring back Catherine Hardwicke !

I did not find it as good as Twilight, the last two have been a disappointment compared to the first. After reading the books first there is so much of the story line missing in the movies.

TEAM TWILIGHT
I think Eclispe was awesome and there was plenty of action ,comedy and romance i really enjoyed it and i also enjoyed Twilight and New Moon
I have seen Eclispe three times i might be going to see it again soon. I rate Eclispe ten out of ten. I loved all the cast they did a brillant job for all three movies so far and crew as well all the directors have been great. I loved all of Eclispe in the movie there were quite a lot of funny quotes there were enjoyable and gave the movie the extra kick to make it stand out. I am a twilight fan i have read all the books i have to say Eclispe is my favourite book but i do enjoyed all of the books i could read them over and over again. I am really looking forward to breaking dawn can't wait to it comes out i am looking forward to the wedding scene in the movie i think that will be beautiful. i love the idea in eclispe where the cullens and the werewolves have to come together and have work as a team.

so good but with problems!

Eclipse is without a doubt a great and hilarious movie but it is not action packed as it has been advertised, instead it was a more passionate movie with kisses etc. you should be glad to know that it is much better than the disappointing new moon.
In eclipse you get to see how jasper and Rosalie became vampires and in this movie jasper as taken on a country western kind of accent for some reason. This movie seriously needed way more editing because in the action scene, for example. The vampires who got their heads and arms ripped off had obvious fake looking bones which should look way more realistic and on a few vampires, just after they got her heads torn off, the left over body’s still had heads!!! It also could go from sonny to pitch dark and a dry ground to it being covered in snow and in one part half the screen has a dirt setting and the bottle has a water fall.
To my surprise, when Edward asked Bella to marry him in new moon I thought it was an obvious yes but in eclipse her keeps saying no!! As Edward asks her again and again. Bella hasn’t really changed; she still keeps complaining that she’s not a vampire. The main trailer for this or the one I constantly see is crap! It doesn’t really make me want to see the movie...... the reason why I watch this movie was because it was a twilight saga but still the trailer could have been much more revealing than it was.
overall it was a good movie but all I can say bad about it was false advertising and it seemed like no-one actually watched the movie before it was sent to cinemas to see all the little light issues and the head still being on a body that should have no head.........can't wait for breaking dawn.
